Prayer changes things...

I've been praying that God would reveal to me things in my life I need to change. I know He probably has lots of things He wants me to change but He's showing them to me pretty slowly. :) I've realized lately that my life is entirely too busy. I worry and stress over small stuff that could wait until tomorrow. I'm a little bit OCD when it comes to a clean house. I can't have just one room clean and everything else not. If I'm cleaning I want to clean every room (or what's mostly seen anyway) and not leave anything undone. My house isn't dirty by no means but I just love to walk in from work in the evenings to a clean house. It just stresses me out in the evening to be so tired and walk in to be reminded that I've gotta clean. But.... here's the lesson learned. The mess isn't going anywhere. No I'm not gonna let it go for weeks or even days but it's not going to hurt anything to do a little cleaning then sit down and relax with my hubby. I'm starting to get the hang of this tactic.

I've also been burdened about my prayer life. I want to start a study on prayer this week. The busyness that I was talking about above can cause us to slack in our prayer life. My desire is to be in continuous prayer with my Father. Not only just to be in continuous prayer but to be careful of the things I'm praying for. Every morning when I wake up whether it's before I even get out of bed or in the truck on the way to work, I pray. Sometimes I catch myself hurrying through it. We learned in elementary school that a conversation is 2 people talking to one another. It's not a one sided thing. When we pray we should be listening for God to speak to our hearts. When I'm hurrying through a prayer I'm not waiting to hear from Him. Think of the things we miss when we hurry through our prayers. Now I do think it's ok throughout the day to say quick little prayers. I believe God still hears those. But if we are wanting to learn something from God we must have a certain time everyday to spend in conversation with God. Allow Him to speak to your heart. This may be a funny example but I think it has a little truth to it :) If a child is calling his/her mom and she doesn't answer normally he/she continues to call for them until they answer. We should be like this with God. Now I don't believe God will get annoyed with us like our mother's did and I believe as long as we have faith that God will hear us He does. There are times that we pray when God isn't ready to answer yet. This is when we continue to pray faithfully. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says "Pray without ceasing." Don't stop praying about whatever is on your heart until you hear from God.

Revelation Song

It's so true when people say music is good for the soul. For about 2 months now Dustin and I have been listening to nothing but Christian music. I really don't know how I ever made it through my days at work before but now that I'm constantly listening to uplifting songs about How Great Our God is my days are so much better. For a couple of weeks JJ and Ron on 91.7 in the mornings have been talking about the song Revelation Song. They kept saying that were amazed when they found at that the lady ,Jennie Lee Riddle, that wrote the song is a mother (of I think 4 children) andGod gave her the lyrics while she was cooking spaghetti and changing diapers. The song, as Ron said, that makes your hair stand up on your arms while singing was written by a mother in the middle of her motherly duties! I listened to their interview with her this morning. She started to explain that while she was cooking and struggling with life's battles she asked God to give her a song that doesn't point out what's going on but focuses completely on Him. She wanted no focus on herself! Did He not do just that? I couldn't help but tear up this morning listening to her talk about it. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain Holy Holy is He. When I hear this I picture a wide open field with the perfect breeze and beautiful flowers. Jennie talked about this same thing in the interview, we would think that the person that wrote this song had some out of this world experience and that's where the lyrics came from but what we don't realize is our God is big enough to use the smallest situation for His glory. Jennie brought out another very true point. She explained that worship isn't a song. Worship is a lifestyle. It's our daily steps of love and obedience to God. We don't have to just be in a church to worship God. Yes God calls us to gather together with other believes to fellowship and worship Him this is very important but that shouldn't be where it stops. It's so sad that that may be the only time some people worship Him. God deserves our praise where ever we are no matter what! We complain about so many things. I complain about so many things. What a shame that is that I took up time to complain or drag around when I could have been worshipping God in it and received such a blessing! God help me to seek your presence and worship You no matter where I am. Help me to look for ways to serve You in everything I do! Thank You for using this very special lady to write this song and speak to the hearts of many people with this testimony of Your love and presence!

Worthy is the,

Lamb who was slain

Holy, Holy, is He

Sing a new song, to Him who sits on

Heaven's Mercy Seat

[Repeat 2x]

(Chorus)

Holy, Holy, Holy

Is the Lord God Almighty

Who was, and is, and is to come

With all creation I sing:

Praise to the King of Kings!

You are my everything,

And I will adore You…!

Yeah!

Clothed in rainbows, of living color

Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder

Show me Your glory!

Exodus 33:12-23
12And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

13Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
16For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
17And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
20And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

I believe that God knows all. I believe He knows our every move. How we serve Him, if we will serve Him, and so on. It still amazes me when I read stories like this that it's like He's speaking right to me. In these verses God is promising Moses that His presence will be with him. It's so funny that in verse 12 Moses was beating around the bush with God. He didn't want to just ask God if he was going to be with him so he said "But who will you send with me?." That's like us saying "There's only one piece of cake left I wonder who will eat it" instead of just saying "Can I have the last piece of cake?" What Moses really wanted to say was "Are you going with me God?" All we have to do is call upon the name of the Lord and He is with us. I think God used this time to teach that to Moses (and us). God was preparing Moses for what is to come. I mean he was going to witness a burning bush he definatly needed reassurance that it was God's presence. I think after Moses understood this he asked God to show him His glory. In verse 22 God starts explaining to Moses what is going to happen. God already knew that Moses would experience His presence at Mt. Sinai. The glory that Moses had been asking for would be experienced there. God answered Moses' prayer and used him for His glory.
The closer we get to God the stronger we will feel His presence. Any questions or concerns we may have all we have to do is bring it to Him. Moses was a little concerned about the things that were to come and He wanted reassurance that God was with him. God not only gave him the reassurance but He also gave him an idea of what was to come!

No darkness

Psalm 139:14-24
"O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me: it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whiter shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea: Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to thee."

Wow! What does this mean? I believe David was trying to tell us that God has perfect knowledge of everything we do and everywhere we go. If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. Even in our trails God is there. The one place in the universe where God would not be present is hell. In these verses David uses the words "If I make my bed in hell" as an example of the darkness sin brings. Even though God is opposed to all darkness, God would turn the darkness into light in order to find His servant! God is willing to do anything to save the people who worship Him. What I think these verses are saying is with God there is no darkness. "the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." Sometimes our sin causes us to feel down and even feel dark. But because we are God's children there is no dark. To him it is the same as light. So the next time you're down or feel as if you need to crawl in a dark hole somewhere remember you can't hide, God knows all, and His light will save you from the darkness no matter where you are! To Him be all the praise!

Keep me in Your will...

James 4:1-10
1"Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. 3Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously?" 6But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." 7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you doubleminded. 9Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up."

In our ladies prayer group last week I told Ms. Dawn it's sad because a lot of times when we pray we are expecting an answer right now. When we think like this it's almost like we are thinking of God as a genie in a bottle. Why do we do this? God is GOD. Because He is so awesome He doesn't have to answer to us. If we are asking HIM to answer to us it's like we are down grading Him. He is not our servant we are to serve Him. James 4 is a very good commandment from God. I think it's like God is saying "you big dummy you were wondering why all of these things are happening to you but you aren't praying for direction and guidance and if you are praying you are only praying for answers to please you." Are we praying because we really want to be closer to God or are we praying just so we will get the answers we want? Hmm that's tough I know. We are human and it's easy to be selfish but what's really our purpose on earth? Our purpose is to serve and glorify God, our Creator, and tell others about Him. God will not answer yes to something that is not His will, so pray for God's will. If we aren't in His will where are we? My mom's favorite song that I sing in church is Keep Me In Your Will. It says Lord keep me in Your will so I won't be in Your way! That's just what we are if we aren't in His will we are in His way. I love verses 7-10 God promises us these things if we stand on His promises and humble ourselves to Him! Verse 9 is saying when a believer has fallen into sin it should upset us. We should get to a point where "laughter and joy" are set aside and we should reflect on the sin and confess. Christians should never laugh at sin. The study bible I'm studying in today says "A Christian's sorrow leads to repentance; repentance leads to forgiveness, and forgiveness leads to true joy over one's reconciliation with God." That's awesome if you ask me. So my goal for this week and every week is to pray for God's will not mine. I want to stand on His promises! And eventhough we don't deserve them His rewards are GREAT if we do this!

His eye is on the sparrow...

Luke 12:22-34
22And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

So many times I find myself struggling and stressing wondering if we will have the things we need. I'm changing this. I am going to completely rely on God to provide for my needs. The scripture above talks about how God provides for the birds and aren't we even more special than the birds? Worrying gets us no where and only shows that we have little faith in the plan God has for our life. Psalm 46:1 says " God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." I love when God repeats himself in the bible and Matthew 6:25-33 is basically the saying the same thing as our scripture today from Luke. I believe God knows how hard headed we can be so when He really wants us to know something He made sure it was in the bible multiple times. We are human and it's only natural to want to worry about things but there's not need for it when God can and will take care of it for us. Today I'm placing all of my worries in His hands and just like the shepard carries the small sheep that have a hard time keeping up with the folk, God will carry me through this. It's pretty awesome when you think about it. The God, our God, the creator of the universe will take care of me. He created this beautiful earth and everything on it. I'm anxious and excited to see what kind of beautiful creation He will turn my life into.

Psalm 25:4-6
"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."

the ultimate protection...

Luke 10:16-20

"He that heareth you heareth me, and he that despiseth you despiseth me: and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

AWESOME AWESOME word. I really cannot say it enough how excited I get that God is revealing things to me through His word. I've read over these 4 verses probably 10 or 12 times this morning and the last time I read it I got it! :) I was thinking just like the  70 did I got all excited that once again God was protecting us from the devils (verse 17). But what Jesus says in verse 20 is what's so awesome. Almost in tears here... He says (in my own words of course) Yes I am protecting you and yes I give you power to walk through snakes and scorpions but this isn't why you should be rejoicing, rejoice because your names are writtent in heaven." The 70 that the Lord had appointed returned joyful after witnessing because the devils were subject to them by His name. A lot lately I've found myself searching for scripture where God promises he will comfort and protect us in our time of fear and while these verses are true it shouldn't be our main focus and where our main joy comes from. God has given us the ULTIMATE protection!! He has given us (born again Christians) an eternal protection from hell and that alone is enough to be joyous about!! I hope this blesses your heart as much as it did mine this morning!
