The God of the valley is still God on the mountain...

Psalm 13
"How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me."

I think God is really trying to teach me to fully rely on Him for EVERYTHING. It seems like He keeps leading me back to the same topic and again it's scripture that reminds me that I am not alone. I find it so refreshing that the people in the days that Christ was walking the earth had some of the same questions and concerns that we do. Just another example of God's evident GRACE and MERCY for us! I found and read this chapter in Psalms last night and I got out Dustin's bible resource thingy :) and looked up what it said about it. The resource thingy said for some reason a lot of people today believe and think that the disciples were basically perfect men that walked beside God, never had questions, never had worries, never made mistakes, as you may already know those people are VERY wrong! In Dustin's study bible (I don't have one, maybe I'll get one for my birthday(10/29)..hint..hint :P) it says this psalm has 3 movements it starts out as a lament or poem of the forsaken, then it's a petition for deliverance, then it's a confession and a vow of praise. God allowed David to poor out his heart full of anxiety to Him and in the middle of his prayer God gave him an understanding of his own situation. I believe God wanted David to be broken before Him so that He could restore him. Verse 5 is awesome because that's where David goes back to the moment that he accepted Christ as his Savior and what the Savior had done for him. Then in verse 6 David vows to praise God because He had (in my terms of course) put up with a lot from him. Sometimes when we are having troubles the first thing we want to do is question where God is. He never leaves us! He wants us to poor our hearts out to Him so that He can remind us just what an AWESOME God we serve! We need to remember that no matter what we go through whether our life is great and we are on the mountain or whether we are going through rough times in the valley, God is there! He is worthy to be praised AT ALL TIMES, mountain or valley. I hate to see people stop praising God when things start going good. He continues to bless as long as we continue to praise Him. Then we bad times do come they are a lot easier to conquer because you are walking close to Him. He desires to hear from us! His word tells us to cast all our cares on Him for He cares for YOU. (1 Peter 5:7) There's no one that can heal me like the GREAT physician can. There's no one that can deliver me like the God that is my present help in my time of need can. I really don't know what I'd do without His love. He does put up with a lot from me but I'm so thankful that no matter what I do He forgives and He still loves me! Thank you God for loving me!!! Help me to forgive and love others like you forgive and love me!

  1. Good Morning Heather.

As I read your blog this morning one set of scriptures came to my mind. You mentioned that David accepted Christ. Have you ever notice these verses?

Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

It really wasn't US who ACCEPTED HIM. He accepted us. HE chose us and predestinated us. THAT, to ME is what is so amazing about His love, grace, and mercy is that HE is the one who chose us even before the world was created. Think on that one a while and it that don't light your fire, I don't know what will.

    Hugs,
    Karen
